District prepares for inclement weather

Pleasant Hill R-III School District encompasses approximately 75 square miles. During inclement weather, road conditions usually vary widely from one area to another. This sometimes makes for a difficult decision on whether to close or delay school. The decision is based on current road conditions and weather forecasts, and is usually made by 5:30 am. The district will then contact the emergency notification center who contacts TV broadcast stations. R-III families and staff members will also be notified by a recorded phone service. Parents are urged to provide schools with updated information on any phone numbers that change throughout the year. Please note that school closing information will not appear on the district website.

On questionable days when school is not canceled, attendance must still be taken but we encourage parents to use their best judgment in deciding if they should bring their children to a bus stop or school. We also encourage inexperienced school age drivers to ride with adults or on the bus during this time.  These situations disrupt family schedules and we appreciate your patience during severe weather conditions. We recognize the importance of having children in school on a regular schedule with quality learning time but our top concern is always the safety of students and staff.

Dismissals for unexpected circumstances will added to the end of the school year.
