Head Coach - Ryan Messinger
Messinger begins his 9th year as a teacher and coach at Pleasant Hill in 2009-10. He was the junior varsity coach and varsity assistant for the first 5 years, and is now entering his 4th year as head coach. The Roosters have won the MRVC conference championship 5 of the last 6 years, including a share of the MRVC West title last year, and the school’s first District Championship in 2009. Messinger attended and played basketball at William Jewell College for two years and then transferred to Northwest Missouri State University, where he graduated in 2000, with a Physical Education degree. He has also earned a Masters degree in Education Administration from William Woods University. Messinger currently teaches Physical Education at Pleasant Hill High School. He, his wife Lisa, and young son Evan, live in Pleasant Hill.

 

Assistant Coach- Wayne Van Dine
Coach Wayne Van Dine came to the Midwest from Hartford, CT in 1967 to attend William Jewell College. He has coached basketball for 33 years in the Kansas City area, 25 as a head coach. His overall varsity record is 362 and 243. He has won conference and district championships in Bourbon, Oak Grove, Liberty, and Wyandotte. While coaching five years at Wyandotte, he took the Bulldogs to the state tournament three times, winning the 5A state championship in 1998. He was named Coach of the Year in the state of Kansas by the Associated Press and the Kansas State Basketball Coaches Association. At the conclusion of the 1998 season, Coach Van Dine took leave from coaching to watch his daughter, Corey, play high school and college basketball. Most recently he started the basketball program at Renaissance Academy of Kansas City. Coach Van Dine served on the board of directors for the directors for the Greater Kansas City Coaches Association from 1996-98. He credits his success to his supportive wife MaryAnn, mentors C. W. Stessman and Dan Longstreth, and long time assistant coach Mark Matney.

Assistant Coach - Kyle Reeves
Reeves has coached in the program for the last four seasons, the last three as the Freshmen coach. Reeves graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 2004, and was a starter on the Roosters 20-7 conference winning team. Kyle graduated from the University of Central-Missouri in 2009, earning his degree in Math Education. He is currently serving as a long-term substitute teacher at Pleasant Hill High School. Reeves lives in Pleasant Hill and also coaches Junior High Track in the spring.
