I would like to take the opportunity to invite you and your show choir to our competition,
Battle of the Best on Jan 21, 2012 here in sunny….cozy Pleasant Hill, MO. This will be our 9th year hosting this event and in our opinion it just keeps getting better!
This year we will adding new features for the choirs!
- We are going to allow lighting designs to take place during your performance. Blackouts, and adjustments in the stage lighting 25%, 50%, 75% will be allowed during your performance. You may provide your own light person to give cues or notate lighting changes on your lighting plot so our lighting personal can provide the changes. You may choose to perform with full lights too, as that is always an option.
- Mixed Prep Choirs that are in an extra large school of 1500 students or more will be competing one level down from their Varsity group. If their varsity group performs in the 5A division, their Xtra Large Mixed Prep Group will compete at the 4A level.
This year we will be again hosting our competition in two venues. Women’s Choirs, Prep groups and 1A/2A/3A choirs will be performing in the PHHS Auditorium with the Extra Large Mixed Prep Groups, 4A and 5A groups performing in the PHHS Gym. Six choirs, 4 from the Gym and 2 from the Auditorium will be selected to be in the Championship Finals held in the evening in the Auditorium.
We think that we give the most trophies and awards of any competition in the state of MO. They include 3 trophies in nearly each division in the prelims, outstanding male and female soloists in each venue, outstanding performers in each venue, best opener, best ballad, best closer and best show design in each venue and more. During our Championship Finals round we will award a Grand Championship trophy along with 5 placement trophies, best vocals, best choreography, best stage crew and best combo.
I hope that you will consider bringing your show choir to our competition. Our judges are great and our clinicians are really helpful and very encouraging. Our goal is for students to walk away having seen some great choirs and received some great instruction. Our stage crew is here to help make “you” happen no matter what that takes.
Please consider joining us for a fun filled day on Saturday, Jan 21st at Pleasant Hill High School. You, your choir and your fans will not be disappointed!
For registration information check out our website at www.pleasanthillschools.com, Our schools, Fine Arts, Battle of the Best. Please note that we will be hosting in 2 venues if we receive 30 registrations. If we receive less than that only one venue will be used and we will be limited to only 20 entries so……don’t wait!
Sincerely,
Karen Dollins
