The Middle School Library Media Center is an automated library system offering students and staff access to over 9,500 books, video and audio tapes and subscriptions to newspapers and periodicals. Magazine and newspaper databases are available as well as a variety of reference materials. Students and staff are encouraged to use the library and to ask for assistance whenever it is needed.
Policies · The Library Media Center is open from 7:15 am to 3:00 pm every school day. Students are welcome at any time with a pass from their teacher, between classes or before and after school. Arrangements can be made if classroom projects require extra time in the Library Media Center. · All books, except reference, may be checked out for two weeks. · Most reference books may be checked out by the hour or overnight after seventh hour. If checked out overnight, these materials must be returned before first hour the following school day. Failure to return overnight materials on time may result in the student losing the privilege of checking out these materials. · Current and back issues of magazines may be checked out for the school day. Magazines may not be checked out overnight. · Students are expected to return books on time so others may use them. Students are notified in writing if they have overdue materials and fines. · A fine of five cents per day is assessed for overdue books; twenty cents per hour is assessed for reference books. · No materials should leave the library without being checked out. All checkouts will be made by the librarian or library assistants. · The student is held 100% responsible for any book he/she checks out until it is returned to the library. Students who lose books will be charged the replacement price of the book. · Computers in the library are available for individual students use when a class is not scheduled. · Students must follow the Acceptable Use Policy at all times. Internet resources are provided for academic research and other legitimate information searches only. · Students using word processors should save their work properly on their network drives as instructed. If students want to save their work to floppy disks or jump drives, they do so at their own risk. · The library media center is provided to support learning. Useless talking should be kept to a minimum. · Any student securing a pass to the Library Media Center must go directly to and from the Library Media Center. NO stopping at the locker or restroom. Passes to the restroom will not be issued from the library. · We are proud of our Library Media Center and highly value the materials housed there. We ask the students' cooperation in keeping the materials in good order. |
