A comprehensive, district wide safe schools plan has been developed and is complemented by a safety plan for each school site.

The crisis plan focuses on crisis prevention, preparation, management, resolution, and healing. The crisis plan also identifies community resources to serve and support students during and after a crisis. The plan delineates responsibilities for each school safety partner and staff member as well as step-by-step procedures for immediate crisis response, including lock downs, evacuations or recovery.

School Health Rooms
The Pleasant Hill R-III District has full-time nurses staffed in each of our schools.

The primary function of a health room is to care for students when they are ill, injured or need medication.  Clinical logs and updated immunization records are kept on file.  Information regarding boosters is sent to parents to keep students compliant with Missouri law.  Screenings for vision, dental, growth and development and scoliosis are performed yearly according to Missouri State requirements for age and grade.

How we address school safety:
Each student and staff member carries a picture identification card.

Visitors to the buildings are required to sign in at the school office, state their specific school business, and visibly display a visitor's badge.

New employees are carefully selected and screened.

Continuing efforts are made to minimize the number of campus entrance and exit points used daily.

A district crisis plan focuses on crisis prevention, preparation, management, resolution, and healing.

Safety drills are practiced regularly on school campuses and contracted transportation.

The school safety program is supported by specific activities, curriculums, support services, peer activities, and partnership programs.

An engaging system of extracurricular programs and services provides students with choices of activities before, during and after school.

A summary of laws pertaining to school safety is provided for all students and staff.
