Pleasant Hill R-III School District was well represented by providing two breakout sessions at the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals annual conference. Mrs. Heidi Mackey, Elementary Principal, and Dr. Janis Yokley, Director of Technology, presented ideas for other principals to utilize for technology professional development for teachers utilizing adult learning theory. The session was called, Tech Chef, was modeled after an Iron Chef format. The second presentation was given by Mrs. Chandra Arbuckle, Intermediate Principal, Mrs. Sherry Helus, Primary Principal, Mrs. Jakqualyn Boden, District Curriculum Facilitator, and Dr. Becky Gallagher, Assistant Superintendent. The session was titled, Revitalizing Your Approach to RtI. In the session the structure of RtI in past years was shared, then discussion was held regarding the universal screening, progress monitoring, and benchmark assessments the district is utilizing with students, and the process in place to select these tools for informed teaching. The principals then gave an overview of the structure for RtI for each building this school year. This was followed by the audience participating in various report sorts and a data talk exercise. Both presentations were well attended, and others in the State are aware of the hard work and outstanding practices our teachers have been putting to use!
